Lahore Basant Festival held on 13 and14 March 2021 #SafeBasant

Kite flying has always been an important part of Lahore's culture. Apart from the incomparable kite and string makers, the stories of chasing experts can still be heard from Lahore. The residents of this city adopted kite flying to such an extent that Basant became an identity of Lahore city. Religious leaders called Basant a Hindu festival and talked of banning the cross. Ordinary people used to say that they celebrate Basant just for fun and there is no need to associate this seasonal festival (Basant Festival) with any religion. It was as a result of this way of thinking that along with the choice of the day, Night Basant, which in Urdu was called the night of Basant, began to be celebrated in Lahore.

The night of Basant started from inside Lahore 16-18 years before the ban on Basant was imposed. Are Since then, the business of Gaddi Door, as well as electricians, has been booming every year and thousands of small and big searchlights have been sold in the days of Basant.

A few years ago, the situation of Basant in Lahore was such that so many people from different parts of the country and even from different parts of the world came to attend Basant that all the hotels in the cities were completely booked. Used to go A large number of Safar Takkar and other foreigners used to go to Lahore. A party was held at all the big buildings of the lions. Multinational companies also used to organize big parties and Night Basant Festival on these roofs. It was so colorful that people from foreign countries were amazed to see the scenes of Night Basant. The whole city was awake at night, with music concerts, food and drink, and Bokata searchlights going on all night.

Kite flying, as well as kite catchers, are an important part of the festival and some of them used metal strings and chemical strings which caused a lot of damage which led to many people. And their lives were affected by this dangerous period and these were the people who ended the festival of Basant.
